Victoria is one of the most popular destinations for tourists on Vancouver Island, but have you ever traveled to other areas in the Southern region of the island? We recently stayed at the East Sooke Treehouse Air BNB (pictured below) and spent the weekend exploring Sooke and Langford. Here are some of the highlights from our trip!
HOUSE OF BOATENG
We went to House of Boateng in Langford for brunch. I loved their African Bowl, with jollof rice, chicken sausage, chilli and scrambled eggs. The flavours were amazing! My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the full breakfast with eggs, bacon and potatoes. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients. There were lots of dairy-free options available!

TASTEBUDS INC.
Tastebuds Inc. is a food truck serving mouth-watering chargrill organic BC beef burgers in East Sooke. They are usually parked at East Sooke Grocer & General Store. We really liked their Cheeseburger Royale with vegan cheese. The burgers come with a side of the most delicious homemade potato salad and coleslaw! I almost enjoyed the potato salad as much as the burger itself.

HATLEY CASTLE
Did you know that the X-Men mansion is in Langford, BC?! Hatley Castle served as the filming location for The X-Mansion and Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in The X-Men film. As a huge movie nerd and someone who loved watching the X-Men films growing up, I was super excited to see the mansion. We did not participate in a tour, but took some time to walk around the property and enjoy the gardens. The castle is now over 100 years old!

WILD MOUNTAIN
Wild Mountain is a restaurant in an old house located just by the water. The food is west coast-inspired, with the menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant has an intimate indoor dining setting (perfect for date nights) and a large patio space.

ORIGIN BAKERY
Between meals we were looking for a treat and stumbled upon Origin Bakery in the Langford area. We picked up vegetarian sandwiches and a delicious mini chocolate ganache cake (dairy-free). All of their baked goods are gluten-free!
