PORTOBELLO AT FAIRMONT CHATEAU WHISTLER
If you’re a porchetta sandwich lover like me, then I highly recommend visiting Portobello at Fairmont Whistler. Expect to stand in line, as this restaurant is very popular. Portobello has a cafeteria style, casual feel, with elevated food options like gourmet sandwiches and pastries. I went specifically for their porchetta sandwich, which was very filling and so tasty (I made the mistake of ordering a soup as a side and couldn’t finish my meal). I also enjoyed grabbing a latte at their cafe which had a large selection of pastries, including vegan options.

BAR OSO
Bar Oso is a small Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of Whistler Village. They have an extensive drink menu and the cocktails are delicious. I especially enjoyed their Oso Sour with candied bacon (pictured above). It’s always busy and they don’t take reservations, so expect a wait. I’d recommend putting your name down early and going for a stroll around the village. The atmosphere is lively and the bartenders are very friendly. I like to sit at the bar and watch them make cocktails. My friends and I often choose this spot for drinks before a night out. If you get a chance to visit, I highly recommend trying their charcuterie boards. It’s the best ones I’ve ever had. Please note that COVID safety protocols are in place, including the addition of plexiglass barriers.

ARAXI RESTAURANT & OYSTER BAR
Araxi Restaurant & Oyster Bar is one of the higher end restaurants in Whistler so the prices aren’t cheap, but I’ve always found the food to be very well-executed and the service is impeccable. The cuisine is describe as Pacific Northwest and “farm to table”. Araxi a great spot for a celebration or special date. I prefer their outdoor seating for the ambiance, but their indoor dining area has a more romantic setting with dim lighting, so it just depends what you’re looking for. I really enjoyed the duck breast (pictured above) and the restaurant was able to accommodate my dairy allergy.

TABLE NINETEEN
Table Nineteen at the Nicklaus North Golf Course might just have the nicest patio in Whistler! I went with a small group of girl friends and we all really enjoyed our food. I had the vegan ramen which was quite yummy and very filling. My friends raved about the Caesar salad. We soaked up the views of Green Lake and the mountains while enjoying the fresh air. The restaurant is right beside the Green Lake trails, which is a perfect place to go for a stroll after dining. Due to COVID, the restaurant is not currently taking reservations. I’d recommend going early and put your name down on the waiting list.

EL FURNITURE WAREHOUSE
Whistler isn’t exactly known for being a cheap travel destination, so if you’re looking for a fun dining spot that’s more budget friendly, I’d recommend El Furniture Warehouse. Every item on the menu costs just $5.95 (not including add-ons), and the drinks are very reasonably priced! It’s a an upbeat and lively spot with patio dining. It’s a great place for a bite to eat before a night out. The food is good for the price, just don’t expect a Michelin star meal.

BRED (MADE BY ED)
Located in Creekside Village just a 5 minute drive from Whistler is Bred, an organic sourdough bread shop. It is a beautiful space and you can see the bakers at work preparing loaves and baked goods. All of their items are plant-based and vegan-friendly. This is huge for me since I have a dairy allergy and have a hard time finding yummy baked goods. I really enjoyed their chai latte and sourdough cinnamon bun with coconut whipped cream.
Please note that due to COVID, the bakery is available for take-out only. A maximum of 3 customers will be allowed in the store at one time, with card payments only.
